Juan J. JIMENEZ-MORENO

I was born in Albacete (Spain) a long time ago, so much so that it was in the last century. I am from a good vintage and I belong to a fantastic generation, the largest in this country. I studied a bachelor’s degree of Economics and Business. When I finished, I stayed at University to continue doing what I liked the most: learning more and telling others what I had been learning. When I was doing my PhD studies, I had a “Business Creation” subject, I liked it and I promised myself that as soon as I could, I would introduce such a subject in my own University. It was possible in 1992. We were pioneers in the Spanish University in having a subject of "Business Creation" in bachelor’s degree. But in addition, we began to investigate, we had a Doctorate program on "Business Creation, SME Management and Family Business", we started the first contacts with other social agents who were beginning to deal with the subject and collaborated with them. We were still pioneering. I started doing more things: creativity workshops, generation of innovative ideas, entrepreneurial projects, inviting young entrepreneurs, etc. We launched UCLM-Emprende. And I kept working. Thirty years later, it has become fashionable and everyone talks about entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs, ... Sometimes a smile escapes me when I see some people who now surf in the entrepreneurship tsunami and all those who, with enthusiasm, just have discover and land on this topic. They have finally understood that a social market economy -sustainable and socially responsible- is based on the fact that a few people -entrepreneurs- have new ideas -innovative-, they risk, create jobs and wealth -which redistributes the States- and continue thinking of new opportunities. I like to learn from enterprising people, whether or not they are entrepreneurs.
