TOPIC OF INTEREST

Small and medium-sized enterprises make up more than 90% of the total number of established companies and account for two-thirds of the world’s employment. Some of the obstacles they must face include the lack of adequate financing, difficult access to strategic resources (raw materials, capital, talent, services, energy, etc.), poor management skills, and informal competition. Similarly, much of these companies are family owned. It is estimated that globally between 65% and 80% of all companies are family businesses, and together they represent around 50% of the world GDP. Eventually, many of these companies will have to act creatively and be re-structured in order to compete and survive.
