ICSB Singapore re-joined the organization as a chapter in 2011 under the leadership of Dr. Den Huan Hooi at Nanyang Technologial University. The ICSB Singapore chapter was established to provide a sense of community and a network of support to ICSB members and enhance their ability to facilitate the growth and development of small and medium enterprises in Singapore.
ICSB Singapore not only brings together academics, policy makers and small businesses in Singapore, but also serves as an essential information and networking center for entrepreneurs overseas looking to expand into Singapore, or to keep in touch with their networks here.
History
A small core membership of Singapore businessmen began meeting in the late 1980’s, and in 1992 formed a Pro Tem Committee chaired by Teck-Meng Tan, Dean of the School of Accountancy & Business at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
The Committee actively promoted ICSB among government and educational institutions as well as individuals and local firms in the private sector. By 1994 it had the requisite 59 members and a name – The Entrepreneurship Forum. The new affiliate elected Wee-Liang Tan as its President. Singapore hosted the ICSB World Conference in 1998.
