Members of the MCSBE include representatives from government bodies, universities, business associations, banks, venture capital companies, donors, consulting companies, large corporations and entrepreneurial companies, business development service (BDS) providers, and development NGOs.

• Advocate the formation and growth of small businesses as a mechanism for economic growth and development;
  Encourage research in the field;
• Improve knowledge, techniques and skills relevant to entrepreneurship and small business development;
• Develop an improved understanding of entrepreneurship in its various forms;
• Coordinate and cooperate with the various governmental institutions involved in encouraging and supporting the development of entrepreneurship and small businesses;
• Organise conferences and other events to promote the free exchange of ideas and knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship and small business, both between MCSBE members and with stakeholders and other interested persons and organisations in the field;
• Exchange and creation of knowledge; and
• Liaison, including affiliating with other associations or bodies with similar objectives.

The Korean Association of Small Business Studies (KASBS) conducts the following projects to achieve the purpose of contributing to the development of small businesses through initiating research and enlightenment and encouraging companionship among them. (1) Researching on theories and practices of small businesses, (2) Permitting studies and researches on small businesses, (3) Publishing journals and books, (4) Presenting researchers and studies, (5) Partnering with other associations that support KASBS’s purpose, and (6) Other projects to achieve KASBS’s purpose.

History

Council members Don Myers, Bob Butler and Gene Bonk met Ki-Jong Ryu, the head of the Korean Federation of Small Business, and Yoon-Bae Ouh, of Soong Sil University, at a World Association of Small and Medium Enterprises meeting in 1984. Almost immediately these key Korean leaders formed an ICSB chapter. Within a very short time, it reached the requisite level of 50 members for affiliate status, mostly industry members. Within five years, it had 100 members. Its first president, Ki-Jung Ryu, was elected a Wilford White Fellow that same year, and Yoon-Bae Ouh became ICSB’s first president from a Pacific Rim country. In 1993, acting for ICSB-Korea, its President Sang Kyu Park donated $5,000 toward the publication on the ICSB Membership Directory.

The Japanese Committee of International Council for Small Business (JICSB) was established an ICSB affiliate in Japan in November 2011 and was currently certified as an Affiliate of the International Council for Small Business in June 2012.

Members of the JICSB committee “comprise individuals who are interested in small business studies and participate in the ICSB”.

The Japanese academy enjoys wide-ranging research archives related to small and medium-sized enterprises．We are confident that our achievements would contribute to ICSB. We will welcome those who want to join JICSB.

History

Japan had been an ICSB chapter for a number of years but had never acquired enough members to form an affiliate. Masayoshi Fukuda, an international venture capitalist, consultant and lecturer at Nihon University, visited the ICSB international office at Saint Louis University. Upon his return to Japan, he led the Japanese chapter to increase its membership from 22 to 55 and meet the requirements to be approved as an affiliate. Fukuda became the first president of the affiliate.

ICSB-China Mainland has been established to provide a sense of community and a network of support to ICSB members and enhance their ability to facilitate the growth and development of small and medium enterprises in China.

The ICSB-China Mainland accomplishes this by bringing together educators, researchers, policy makers and practitioners to share knowledge and experience in their respective fields and particular to the context of china. ICSB-China Mainland promotes the development of knowledge in all areas of business theory and practice and is particularly focused on strategies and policies proven to be effective in sustaining small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurship.

In accordance with the instructions of ICSB, the Executive Committee of ICSB-China is made up of educators, researchers, policy makers and practitioners. The Committee consists of 22, among whom there is 1 president.
