With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Gary “Dale” Meyer, a true visionary, esteemed mentor, dedicated leader, and cherished friend. Dale passed away peacefully on July 20, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered and honored by all who had the privilege to know him.

Dale Meyer was a cornerstone of the International Council of Small Business (ICSB), where he was more than just a mentor; he was a beacon of inspiration and a leader who exemplified the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship. His vision and passion for fostering entrepreneurial minds have left an indelible mark on the organization and its members. His ability to see potential and nurture it made him an invaluable asset to the ICSB community.

Born on March 24, 1936, in Mingo Junction, Ohio, Dale moved to Boulder in 1961, where he would embark on a remarkable journey over five decades. As a distinguished professor at the University of Colorado, he played an instrumental role in establishing entrepreneurship as a focal point within the School of Business. His pioneering work laid the foundation for countless students to explore and excel in business, inspiring generations of graduate students who benefited from his wisdom, guidance, and unwavering support.

Dale’s contributions to the field of entrepreneurship were recognized with numerous prestigious honors, including the esteemed Hazel Barnes Award from the University of Colorado. His global impact was further acknowledged when he was named a Global Small Business Ambassador by ICSB, a testament to his influence and dedication to the growth and support of small businesses worldwide.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dale was a dear friend to many. His warmth, kindness, and generosity of spirit endeared him to all who knew him. He uniquely connected with people, offering professional advice, personal support, and friendship.
