The International Council of Small Business (ICSB) is pleased to announce, U.S. Small Business Administration’s, Deputy Associate Administrator for International Trade, Mr. Eugene Cornelius, Jr. has accepted a one year detail with ICSB at the International Office in Washington, D.C.

“We are honored to have Mr. Cornelius join our team here at ICSB. He brings his extensive international experience and executive leadership to the design, development, and delivery of the ICSB Global program called the 10×10 Program between the United States and ten allied countries around the world that are interested in learning best practices on how to establish small business support agencies,” said Geralyn McClure Franklin, President, ICSB. The 10×10 Program also promotes the facilitation of trade between other countries’ small businesses and the small businesses of the United States.

“I am extremely excited to expand the world of international trade under the SBA with the many different countries that we work with. We will be opening markets to U.S. small businesses and promoting a stronger global marketplace,” said Mr. Eugene Cornelius, Jr. This opportunity is made possible through the Small Business Act and the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Strategic Plan.

“One of the overarching objectives for the 10×10 Program will be to emulate and articulate the mission of the U.S. Small Business Administration which is to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of our nation,” said Cornelius. “I believe that small businesses are critical to economic strength, strong futures, and global marketplaces.”

Cornelius also noted; “it is clearly evident that the chances of success for these small businesses are far greater to succeed with the support of strong educational, training, and counseling networks. We will begin first by laying the groundwork and building the components of extensive and elaborate networks of dynamic partnerships with public and private organizations as demonstrated by the U.S. Small Business Administration.”
