About the Course

This comprehensive course explores the transformative power of global entrepreneurship, focusing on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as drivers of economic growth, innovation, and social impact. By examining real-life, relevant case studies, participants will gain a deep understanding of the global entrepreneurial ecosystem and the challenges of operating in diverse international markets. The course covers key areas such as international strategies for SMEs, the rise of Born Globals, and sustainable growth strategies, equipping participants with the knowledge and tools to navigate the complexities of global business with confidence.

Students will also explore how technical innovation can drive competitive advantage and address global challenges, while learning about the impact of corporate culture and new organizational structures—including Teal Organizations and Holacracy—in creating agile, adaptive businesses. Additionally, the course covers strategies for scaling businesses, identifying market potential, and leveraging storytelling and community engagement to build strong brands. Through fresh, real-world case studies, participants will develop leadership skills for managing growth, building high-performing teams, and sustaining long-term success in dynamic global markets.

About Rico Baldegger

Rico Baldegger is an accomplished entrepreneur and professor of Entrepreneurship, Strategy, and Innovation at Sawyer Business School, Suffolk University in Boston, USA, and an Honorary Professor at the School of Management Fribourg, Switzerland. In 2024, he served as the Chair of organizing the UN MSMEs Day at the United Nations and the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva, reinforcing his commitment to global entrepreneurship and economic development.

With a Master’s in Business and Economics from the University of St. Gallen and a Ph.D. in SME and Entrepreneurship from the University of Fribourg, Professor Baldegger brings deep expertise in entrepreneurship, innovation, and business strategy.

His extensive professional experience spans leadership roles in human resources, IT, and branding, as well as entrepreneurial ventures across Europe and the U.S. His tenure as CEO of a management consultancy, along with his active role on multiple boards of directors and as a business angel, further underscores his influence and leadership in the field.
