On May 10 at the United Nations, ICSB and Partners held Working Sessions
titled “Creating Entrepreneurship Ecosystems to Support SMEs and UN Sustainable Development Goals”.
ICSB’s partners, which include the Permanent Mission of Argentina to the UN, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the UN, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the United Nations Office for Partnerships (UNOP), organized 4 interactive working sessions that featured an expert panel discussion.
The first session “The Role of Entrepreneurship Education and Research in Promoting, Creativity, Innovation and Economic Development in Disruptive Environment” was led by Dr. George Solomon, Editor of the Journal for Small Business Management.
Session two “Leading Through Financial Inclusion-The Global Impact of Women Business Owners” was led by Dr. Geralyn Franklin, ICSB President-Elect.
The third session “Humane Entrepreneurship – Creating Quality Jobs to Accomplish the SDGs” was chaired by Dr. Ayman Tarabishy, Executive Director at ICSB; and
The fourth session “The Future of Work and Economic Growth” was chaired by Dr. Winslow Sargeant, ICSB’s SVP of Development.
The sessions explored the challenges and opportunities being presented by each topic through moderated discussion.
The Chair of each session then reported the findings to the main Forum to held at the United Nations on Saturday, May 12, 2018.
The keynote speaker of the event on May 10 was Mr. Shin Chang-Jae, the CEO and Chairman of Kyobo Life Insurance Co.,Ltd. Kyobo Life Insurance was founded by his father in 1958 as Daehan Kyoyuk Insurance.
Mr. Chang-Jae became CEO and Chairman in 2000 when the company was feeling the effects of the Asian Financial Crisis.
He turned the company around by focusing on customer satisfaction and risk control. He has led several changes and innovations in the company, turning the Kyobo Life Insurance into customer’s most preferred insurance company in North-Eas t Asia.
