FROM LUXOR TO CAIRO AND BEYOND: THE GREAT AWAKENING

The Egypt Entrepreneurship Summit 2018 (EES2018) that took place in November 2019 was five months ago but it has taken a while to digest what actually took place in the city of Luxor, Egypt. To many, Luxor is known for the Valley of the Kings and Luxor
Temple. For the ancient world, these are wonders that still today mystifies engineer and architects on how these great structures were built. There have been many copycats of these tombs and structures but we know that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Social Entrepreneurship on the SDGs

Social Entrepreneurship on the SDGs

According to estimates, the total combined consumption by all the human activity around the world is greater than the resources generated by the planet. In other words, every year, the Earth Overshoot Day is being reached earlier, and this overtakes the planet´s ability to generate those resources for that year. By October 1, 2000, all the resources of Mother Earth had been consumed. In 2015, it was by August 13. And last year, the Earth Overshoot Day was August 1.

Competitiveness refers to a nation’s ability to compete for resources, increase investment and productivity, and generate growth and prosperity to improve quality of life. However, a better standard of living can only be achieved when domestic businesses can compete equally against businesses from other countries, sustaining themselves while increasing income and production efficiency.
