I am Nishanthi Kariyapperuma, a citizen of Sri Lanka and a permanent resident in New Zealand, and currently a third-year doctoral student at the University of Waikato, Hamilton. I completed my first degree with a first-class at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. I was specialized in Marketing Management. Also, I have completed my MBA in the Postgraduate Institute of Management(PIM, with a merit pass), Sri Lanka, with a major in consumer behaviour. My MBA thesis was about different levels of corporate social responsibility of businesses operate in Sri -Lankan insurance sector.
Currently, I am doing my PhD with publications in the areas of environmental sustainability, values transmission and family businesses. More specifically, I am focusing on understanding Intergenerational transmission of ecological values in the multigenerational family businesses. Currently, I am focusing on the wine industry, New Zealand. I am applying a qualitative approach ( qualitative content analysis and interviews).
I am a mother to two lovely kids and a cute seven months old cat ( Spiky). When I am not reading for the PhD, I am either taking care of my kids or taking a walk along the beautiful roads in Hamilton. I love gardening too.
